Shaun Wright-Phillips was right with his prediction of the outcome of the Premier League clash between hosts Burnley and Manchester City last weekend as the Citizens chase a fourth league title in five seasons. Ex-Chelsea and Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips was on Premier League TV for analysis on the title race including the games involving Liverpool and Manchester City alongside compatriot Michael Owen. Shaun Wright-Phillips predicted an away win for Manchester City as he was confident that they will return to the Premier League summit after Liverpool had taken it with their home win over Watford. His predicted was right after City scored two early goals to record a 2-0 win at Burnley thereby returning to the top of the Premier League log.

Liverpool secured the Premier League summit for a few hours after beating relegation-threatened Watford 2-0 at home in the early kickoff on Saturday. In-form Diogo Jota scored the opening goalmidway into the first half before substitute Fabinho wrapped up the game in the final moments after Jota was brought down by Slovakian midfielder Juraj Kucka. Brazilian star Fabinho has scored some penalties for Liverpool this season and he was successful again from 12 yards out against the Hornets to wrap up an important win for his team. (more…)

D’Margio Wright-Phillips has signed a new deal at English Championship outfit Stoke City. The news of his contract extension was announced by the club at the end of last month. D’Margio Wright-Phillips is the son of former Premier League star Shaun Wright-Phillips. D’Margio Wright-Phillips would be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Shaun Wright-Phillips by playing in the Premier League.

Shaun Wright-Phillips is certain that both Chelsea and Manchester City will fight for the first title this season. Shaun Wright-Phillips represented the two Premier League teams during his career but he’s tipping Chelsea to beat holders Manchester City to the title. He made this known in an interview with the Metro. According to him, Chelsea have shown that they can secure big wins without having to play well.

England international Shaun Wright-Phillips went on to state what has changed since Thomas Tuchel replaced club legend Frank Lampard as the Chelsea manager. He said that the Chelsea attack was menacing under Lampard but his team was conceding too many goals. WHEN DID MANCHESTER POWER SHIFT HAPPEN?
Former Premier League player Shaun Wright-Phillips has revealed when the Manchester power shift happened. He made this known in a chat with The Sun. According to the former Chelsea and Manchester City winger, the power shift from Manchester United to Manchester City happened when the Red Devils were beaten in the 2011 FA Cup semi-finals. Manchester City legend Yaya Toure scored the only goal of the game to lead the Citizens to a slender 1-0 win over Manchester United. Shaun Wright-Phillips said that match was the beginning of the Manchester City dominance till this day. Manchester City have been the dominant force in Manchester at the expense of Manchester United for over a decade.

WRIGHT-PHILLIPS CRITICISES WEST HAM SIGNING
Ex-Chelsea and Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips has criticised new West Ham United player Jesse Lingard after his penalty antics during the win over bottom team Sheffield United on Monday night in the Premier League. Shaun Wright-Phillips was on Premier League TV in the company of Alan Shearer for the game between West Ham United and Sheffield United at the London Stadium and for the game between Chelsea and Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge.

Jesse Lingard created a little scene when he won a penalty towards the end of the first half. The Manchester United loanee wanted to take the penalty he had won before he was stopped by the captain for the day, Declan Rice who also doubles as the designated penalty taker. Long serving player Mark Noble is the West Ham United but he’s not a regular in the starting XI. In his place, vice-captain Declan Rice is always the captain during games in the Premier League. In the end, Jesse Lingard left the penalty for Declan Rice, who scored to give his team a 1-0 lead at the break. (more…)
