According to reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City’s 19-year-old attacking prodigy Kayky is on his way to Portuguese club Pacos de Ferreira on a year-long loan deal. The move is expected to be made official in the coming week. Manchester City beat competition from Liverpool to sign Brazilian starlet Kayky from Fluminense in the 2021 summer transfer window. The youngster went on to make 14 appearances for the Citizens’ under-21 side, scoring six goals and providing four assists. Kayky also managed to play twice for the club’s senior team, once each in the FA Cup and the Premier League.

The Premier League champions are eager for Kayky to continue his development and are thus sending him out on a year-long loan to Portugal. The Brazilian wonderkid is set to undergo a medical with Pacos de Ferreira on Monday, as all terms have been agreed upon between Manchester City and the Portuguese club.

The move could be made official as early as next week and the youngster will potentially become the sixth Manchester City player to be sent out on loan this summer. Kayky is predominantly a right winger, but can also play on the left flank. The teenage prodigy has also played as an attacking midfielder in his young career. Galatasaray were also linked with him.

Pacos de Ferreira have also signed young left-winger Nigel Thomas from PSV Eindhoven on a free transfer. He is expected to compete with Kayky and Lucas Silva, who has been with the club since 2020, for the starting spot.

Manchester City, on the other hand, have started their Premier League defence in fine fashion by clinching a commanding 2-0 win over West Ham United. New signing Erling Haaland scored both the goals for Manchester City to open his account in England after a sub-par debut in the Community Shield matchup against Liverpool. Former City star Shaun Wright-Phillips believes its a good love for the youngster.
