The Scorer Of New York Red Bulls Friendly

Shaun Wright Phillips, who is the best player for New York Red Bulls, was on the score sheet as the team defeated Club America with 2-0 in Red Bull Arena in a friendly match on Wednesday.

The former Chelsea and Manchester City winger won the opening goal soon after he made his entry in an impressive style.

Wright Phillips said that they have another game to be played on Sunday and has several USL products. The products look great and appropriate as per Wright Phillips. The 34 year old did not have an easy start with the Red Bulls as he had made only 2 starts in close to 17 league appearances. Although the player was there only for a few minutes during MLS action, he did show his best performance in a classy style on Wednesday. The effort put in by the player is indeed not uncommon as Wright Phillips has made spectacular performances in the past. He is known as the sharpest players when it comes to the training pitch.

Wright Phillips said that it is Jesse, who keeps his confidence always stand high besides his other team members who equally play the match well.

Jesse Marsch is the head coach of his team and hence Wright Phillips always follows his coaching with great dedication. Wright Phillips believes that in football, one has to fight for their chance at the position is never gifted in advance. It has to be earned and people have to work hard and take it whenever they get a chance. Shaun Wright Phillips did not get plenty of chances to prove his worth to the New York Red Bulls fans, but his talent that he showed in the friendly match against Club America held on 6th July has certainly made him shine like a star. Now the wait is on for Sunday for the next match.

Shaun Wright-Phillips to play with the New York Red Bulls reserve team

Former Manchester City and England midfielder Shaun Wright-Phillips has been loaned to the reserve team of New York Red Bulls.

The reason behind this move is that the midfielder needs playing time in order to recover his fitness following his injury.

The Major League Soccer is currently on holiday because of the Copa America, and the New York Red Bulls staff wants to seize this opportunity to give Shaun Wright-Phillips some much needed playing time. Indeed, the former Manchester City winger has only managed to make 5 appearances for the first team this season and will certainly need some time in order to recover his fitness.

Shaun Wright-Phillips, who has won the Premier League with both Manchester City and Chelsea, will feel that this is a set-back in his career and would want to ensure that he returns to form. Playing in the third tier of the American soccer league is nothing glamorous for a player that has represented England at the highest level.

Shaun Wright-Phillips started his career with Nottingham Forest but was released by the club for a lack of potential. He then moved to Manchester City where he will quickly develop in a promising winger. At that time, he will attract the interest of several clubs, but he will decide to stay with Manchester City. He will go on and make 181 appearances for them playing in both the Premier League as well as the Championship. He will manage to score 31 goals during the process.

He will leave Manchester City in 2005 when he will sign for Chelsea. He will manage to make 124 appearances for the Blues while scoring 10 goals. He will win the FA Cup, League Cup, and Premier League during his time at Chelsea.

SHAUN WRIGHT PHILLIPS WANTED TERRY TO JOIN HIM AT NEW YORK

Shaun Wright Phillips wanted Chelsea skipper, John Terry to join him at New York.

This was before John Terry has handed a one-year deal to remain at Stamford Bridge. The 35-year old English International was unlikely to receive a new contract at the season end, this made Wright-Phillips, who is currently playing with brother Bradley for New York Red Bulls, want to see his former Blues team-mates join him Stateside.

Wright-Phillips, 34, said:

“It would be amazing to have JT here.

“Everyone knows he has been one of the best players in England for a long time.

“He’s been amazing for his entire career and his reading of the game is unbelievable.

“To have someone here like him – even if it’s not at this club – would really benefit this league and benefit the players playing around him.

“Learning off him first hand instead of just watching on TV would give a boost to all players, whether it’s with or against him.”

Wright-Phillips moved to the Big Apple last summer after a career in England that saw him make 299 Premier League appearances and earn 36 international caps. The former Manchester City star is one name on a long list of Englishmen that have moved to America with the liked of Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole.

Wright-Phillips made the headline recently when Kasper Schmeichel lifed the English Premier League with Leicester City. Ian Wright and Shaun Wright-Phillips transformed into the chief father-kid pair to finish this after Wright-Phillips was a bit of Chelsea’s title-winning side in 2006, while Wright won it with Arsenal in 1998. Schmeichel won five Premier League trophies with Manchester United together and now his kid Kasper joined the Wrights as Leicester city ended their fairy tale season in style.

New York Red Bulls have been able to enjoy the pace of Shaun Wright Phillips

New York Red Bulls have been able to enjoy the pace of Shaun Wright Phillips to the maximum in recent seasons. Manager Jesse Marsch claims that the attitude of the former Chelsea winger has been first class.

Some players are criticised for not showing the 100% commitment to the MLS after having just joined from the European league. Since European football is significantly more competitive, the MLS has been seen as a retirement party for the ageing superstars. However, Wright Phillips has not been taking a similar opinion since joining New York Red Bulls.

The English winger joined the club in 2015 and has since made 12 appearances for the team. The MLS is preparing for the 2016 season with New York Red Bulls taking onJacksonville Armada FC in a pre-season friendly. The match will take place on February 27 and manager Marsch is ready to give Wright Phillips an important run in the team. This will help him build some fitness ahead of the new campaign. A Premier League winner with Chelsea, the 34-year-old has also played for clubs like QPR and Manchester City. The player says that he is already looking forward to the start of the campaign.

The club open the new season with a home game against Toronto FC. “He’s looked sharper and sharper, fitter and fitter every day, so the goal is to get him ready by the opening weekend and I’m hopeful that Saturday, he’s still feeling well and that we can maybe look to give him 10-15 minutes.” he told Plainsailing.com

“First and foremost, I just want to get through the game with no injuries, or nothing reoccurring and get as many touches on the ball as I can, and create a few chances for myself and my teammates,” said the manager of New York Red Bulls.

Shaun Wright Phillips has no plans after being released from MLS team

The MLS side New York Red Bulls released Shaun Wright Phillips along with a number of other players who just couldn’t manage to find their spot in the team and did not play a very influential role in the American team.

Shaun Wright Phillips signed a permanent deal with the New York Red Bulls back in July of 2015 but his time in the club only lasted a few months as he was released by the team at the end of the 2015 MLS season and the . The veteran player also went on saying that if it was for him, he would’ve liked to continue playing for the MLS team for another year but his wish wasn’t heard as Shaun Wright Phillips had to see his way out after a short period of time.

“I don’t really think too much, I take it a day as it comes. I’m being hopeful. Hopefully you’ll see me again next year. If I had my way, I’d like to be back here. I would like to but I knew the situation, I came halfway through this season and players were playing well. It’d be harsh to pull people out. I have to fight for my position, just like everyone else.” Former Chelsea player, Shaun Wright Phillips said as he told the media his desire to stay with New York Red Bulls for at least another season.

When the 2015 MLS season reached it’s end, the New York Red Bulls released the following 9 players: Dane Richards, Damien Perrinelle, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Leo Stolz, Kyle Reynish, Marius Obekop, Manolo Sanchez and Anthony Wallace but some of those players are rumored on making a return to the MLS team in 2016.

Shaun Wright Phillips is still positive

In spite of the fact that his contract hasn’t been renewed, Shaun Wright Phillips is still positive about extending his stay at Red Bull Arena.

The winger hopes that he would get the chance to feature for the team again in the 2016 edition of the Major League Soccer.
Phillips had joined Red Bulls mid way through 2015.

The veteran failed to do justice to the stature he had come with, managing to net only once in 12 appearances.

To be fair, however, he was not given that much of playing time. Most of his appearances were pretty brief ones.

He was included in the starting XI just a solitary time. So, it was a little tough for him to get into the perfect rhythm.
But, he understood what the situation was and has no complaints about being kept on the bench for most of the time.

Speaking to a newspaper, the 34-year old said, “Coming in the middle of the season, you can’t expect yourself to play much. The players who are settled in certain positions, it’s hard to take them off from there.”

Phillips is eager to stay in New York and he believes he would look a different player once he has had a complete pre season.
In the words of Phillips, “I definitely want to play next MLS. Let’s see. I don’t know anything at this point of time, but, I hope I have the opportunity to be back in.”

Phillips’ brother Bradley, on the other hand, had another fantastic season for Red Bulls as he finished as their leading scorer with a total of 18 strikes.

Lloyd Sam and Mike Grella were in decent goal scoring form too as they scored 12 and 10 goals respectively.

Shaun Wright Phillips returns back

After being frozen out of the first team by Harry Redknapp, the former Chelsea and Manchester City winger, Shaun Wright Phillips, returned back to the pitch in the 2-0 win over Sunderland.

Redknapp was the manager who brought Wright Phillips to Loftus Road, but it is understood that they fell out with each other.

Wright Phillips did not feature in any of the matches until now. After a very poor first half to the season, Redknapp resigned from his role citing medical issues. After going 11 matches without an away point, QPR finally secured the first three points on the road with a win over Sunderland.

Wright Phillips made his contribution by playing for 38 minutes after coming on as a substitute. A Premier League winner with Chelsea, the 33-year-old has stated that it feels very good to be back on the pitch. Only a few weeks ago, he was linked with a loan move to Brighton and Hove Albion. Now, the former England international will be hoping to establish himself as part of Chris Ramsey’s plans. Ramsey has been appointed as the caretaker manager until the end of the season. The win lifted QPR out of the bottom three but only on goal difference.

“It was definitely worth the wait.It was a massive team performance, and it was for the fans, especially those that have been to every away game and seen us lose week after week.I thought the boys were outstanding. Each and every one of us put our bodies on the line and delivered the gameplan. It was amazing to get some game time. I was a bit anxious in the first five minutes, but once I got into the game I felt good out there,” said Wright Phillips. The former England star featured in only 12 matches over the last two seasons.

Huge Changes in Football Association inevitable

There have been a lot of forceful changes being made in the hierarchy of Football Association of late. All the people, who had played a key part in the hiring of Roy Hodgson and then, keeping him in the job even after the World Cup debacle, are exiting and the new set of people is taking over and that has put a big question mark over the future of Hodgson as England boss.

There is little possibility that Hodgson would be shaken from his position before the Euro Cup, but, whether he would stay at helm till the next World Cup or not, that’s not certain now.
Hodgson had a lot of support from the old decision makers of FA. They always backed him and had they been there, the 67-year old would have hoped to hold his position till 2018, but, that’s not the case anymore.

It remains to be seen how much trust the news guys have on Hodgson. It is believed that the FA officials are going to make a decision soon if they want to offer the manager a fresh deal or they want to wait and see how well the Three Lions go in the Euro.

The latter is looking more probable to happen because giving Hodgson a 2-year extension right now would be too risky a decision.

England might have been going pretty well in the Euro qualifiers, but, they have a lot of work to do still.

Winning obviously always helps and raises the confidence of the team, but, it’s also important to keep in mind against which opposition the wins are coming against.

The FA top brass would surely be taking all the things into consideration. It would be very surprising for a lot of people if they extend Hodgson’s contract in the next few months.

Redknapp doesn’t want to discuss contract extension yet

The QPR boss Harry Redknapp has clearly told the club hierarchy that he doesn’t want to talk about contract extension at this point of time.
This is Redknapp’s last year as QPR manager.
There were reports that the decision makers at the Loftus Road Stadium wanted the manager to put pen on a fresh deal, but, after the recent disappointing performances of the Rangers that have left them at the last position in the league table ahead of international break, the idea has been put on hold.
Redknapp, however, has dismissed these reports as rumours and has instead claimed that he himself let the owner know that the extension is not at the top of his priorities right now.
According to Redknapp, he wants to wait till the end of the season and see where the team ends up. If the Rangers get demoted, he would, most probably, be leaving.
In a Newspaper interview the day before yesterday, Redknapp was quoted as saying, “I had a chat with Tony about a month back and I had told him I was not ready to do any talks about the deal.”
“We first need to get this ongoing campaign finished. My decision will be based on what our position is in the table at the end of the season. If we are not able to escape relegation, there would not be any possibility of me staying.”
“I have such a good rapport with the owner that it’s not necessary for me to have signed a new contract. Let’s see where we find ourselves in May.”
Just one win has come for the Rangers playing in the English top tier the ongoing season. That was against Sunderland in August. They have lost regularly afterwards except that one game against Stoke City which they drew.

Onuoha Hopes For Wright Phillips Form

Nedum Onuoha hopes that his teammate Shaun Wright Phillips gets back in form and makes a difference for Queens Park Rangers in the upcoming season.

Over the last couple of seasons, Phillips has been given only 18 starting opportunities at QPR and that’s because he has not been playing up to that level. Since last Christmas, he’s made just a couple of appearances.

Phillips is approaching 33 now and many people believe that it’s close to impossible for him to regain his lost spark at this stage of his career, but, Onuoha still has got the belief in the English winger.

Speaking to the press yesterday, Onuoha said, “The previous season, Shaun was provided very little playing time. That was a bit strange for me to be honest. I have seen him putting up grand performances for many clubs over the years. He was one of the players that I used to look up to when I was a teenager.
Hopefully, he gets to play more matches this summer and creates impact.”

“He is looking very good in training. It seems he has put in a lot of work on his game in the off season. If he plays, it would be fantastic for us. We need somebody as experienced as him in the line up regularly.”

A few days ago, Phillips’ father Ian Wright had said that the winger had lost self confidence after being made to sit on the bench continuously last season.

When asked about that, Onouha said, “Look, every player starts doubting himself a little bit when he loses form. But, the important thing is how he gets out of that phase. Shaun has got through it by working hard and he is ready to win matches for QPR again.”
