HUGHES STILL CONFIDENT

The QPR manager Mark Hughes has said that he is extremely confident that he can help QPR get out of the relegation trouble this season, while also keeping his job intact. He has said that the experience he has picked up from his days at Manchester city will certainly help him in this regard.

Mark Hughes was given substantial amounts of funding during his time at Manchester city, but was not able to suit his project due to the fact that he was sacked midway through the 2010 season. The Manchester city owners decided to bring in the former Inter Milan manager Mancini in his place.

The QPR manager Mark Hughes has been extending a similar kind of position at QPR as well, albeit at a smaller level. He has been able to spend a lot of money in the transfer window of high-profile players like José Bosingwa and Esteban Granero. Due to the presence of these players, QPR are expected to get a result against most of the opposition they face. However, the club has taken only two points from the opening seven matches of the Premier league. Further, they also have one of the worst away records in the English football.

Mark Hughes, though, is confident that the players will finally gel together and the results will start coming. “We all understand that we are judged on results. We are six games into a very long season. We understand what is the requirement at the end of the season. I speak to Tony every week. I have great support, a great relationship with Tony and Amit. They understand what is required when you are building a club and a team. They have seen the massive changes we have made to the club in the short space of time we have been here,” said Hughes.

QPR SNAP UP HOILETT

Queens Park Rangers have signed the Blackburn Rovers footballer Junior Hoilett. The Blackburn Rovers wanted to extend the contract of Hoilett, but, he didn’t accept the offer and decided to leave the club. Hoilett is the seventh player to be signed by Queens Park Rangers this summer. Before him, the club has already signed Samba Diakite, Ryan Nelsen, Andy Johnson, Ji-Sung Park, Rob Green and Fabio da Silva.

After signing Hoilett, the manager of Queens Park Rangers, Mark Hughes, said that Hoilett is a highly talented player. He is very enthusiastic and he can also motivate his other team mates. Whenever he goes on the ground, he gives his 100%. It is good to have such a dedicated young player in the team. Hoilett has been with Blackburn Rovers since 2009. In the three seasons that he played for Blackburn Rovers, he performed fantastically and impressed a lot of experts. In the last season, he played in 37 matches for Blackburn Rovers and scored 7 goals.

On being asked about Queens Park Rangers, Hoilett said that he is pretty excited to play under the guidance of Mark Hughes. According to Hoilett, he has enormous respect in his heart for Mark Hughes and it would be so nice to work with him. He is eagerly waiting to wear the shirt of Queens Park Rangers and play the first match for them.

Meanwhile, there have been reports that the Queens Park Rangers are also interested in Dimitar Berbatov, the striker of Manchester United. United is demanding 5 million pounds for Berbatov. According to some reports, Berbatov desperately wants to leave Manchester United as he knows that he would hardly get an opportunity to play for United in the presence of the other strikers i.e. Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez. So, he wants to join some other club where he could get opportunities to play regularly. Apart from QPR, some other clubs are also interested in Berbatov, but, Mark Hughes has said that he wants Berbatov in QPR and he would fight for him.

SWP BLAMES PRICE TAG

Former Chelsea winger Shaun Wright Phillips has said that the huge £ 50 million price tag on Chelsea striker Fernando Torres is the reason for him not performing well in a Chelsea shirt.

The Spaniard scored in the 2-2 draw with Barcelona in the midweek action, while his set to face the current club of Shaun Wright Phillips – QPR – at Stamford Bridge.

Shaun Wright Phillips, himself, was a £ 21 million signing many years ago from Manchester City. He never really lived up to the expectations and was ultimately sent back to the club four years ago. Now, coming to the end of his career, Shaun Wright Phillips has said that the transfer fee is always a major pressure on a player.

Despite this, the former England winger has said that he expects Fernando Torres to be back firing on all cylinders. Chelsea will be taking on QPR during the weekend, while Tottenham will be at home hosting Blackburn Rovers. The other contender for the top four positions Newcastle United will be having an away match against inform Wigan Athletic. QPR to have an opportunity to surprise Chelsea, who are likely to continue with the celebrations having made it into the Champions League final, because the club are likely to have one eye on the FA Cup final against Liverpool at the new Wembley.

“It’s not the price tag that weighs down on you, more the expectation that goes with it. If it wasn’t for the players around me and Jose Mourinho, it would have been much harder. Fernando gets into the right positions. Perhaps now it’ll all click and he’ll be back to normal,” Shaun Wright Phillips said regarding the problems faced by Fernando Torres is the last few months at Chelsea.

WEBB WILL REFEREE SEMI

English referee Howard Webb will be taking charge of the first leg Champions League semi-final encounter between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.

This is the first of the two Champions League semifinals. The second one will be between English club Chelsea and Barcelona at Stamford Bridge.

José Mourinho will be coming against the side against whom he won the 2010 Champions League title with Inter Milan. It is highly unlikely that José Mourinho will not be having enough information on Bayern Munich after having done such a stellar job with Inter Milan in the final at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Howard Webb has been widely regarded to be the best English referee. He took over the match between Netherlands and Spain in the 2010 FIFA World Cup final.

The 40-year-old referee was also seen at the 2010 Champions League final – the same final that the Inter Milan managed by José Mourinho won against Bayern Munich. The Portuguese manager will be hoping that the lucky omens will once again reappear when they face the German club at the Allianz arena.

Bayern Munich have the major motivation of playing at the final due to the fact that it will be held at the home ground – Allianz arena.

So far, Howard Webb has been involved in 42 matches in various competitions. Even though only four of the matches have come in the Champions League this season, he is expected to hand the physical approach by Real Madrid quite brilliantly, whilst backing him to referee the European Championships final is one of the top euro 2012 bets.

The European football governing body – UEFA – are yet to name the referee for the second semifinal between Barcelona and Chelsea. Back in 2009, this match at Stamford Bridge was the setting of the highly controversial refereeing by the Norwegian Øvrebø. Øvrebø denied many clear-cut penalties for Chelsea back then, which was viewed highly controversial.

WRIGHT TIPS QPR TO DROP

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has said that his son Shaun Wright Phillips will probably be relegated along with QPR this season.

Shaun Wright Phillips moved to QPR from Manchester City for around £ 3 million in the summer. He was one of the biggest transfer arrivals for ex-manager Neil Warnock, but he has largely been a disappointment at Loftus Road.

Mark Hughes has said that Wright Phillips should improve a lot in order to be a major help for QPR in their fight for relegation. Ian Wright has now said that QPR will feel extremely lucky if they are able to take at least one point from the last 10 matches.

QPR are currently in the 18th position in the table and they need a miracle in order to remain in the Premier league next season. The latest in-play online betting puts them as firm favourites to drop later this season. They have won just one of the 16 league games, while the prospect of safety gets even more tough when you consider that QPR will be facing the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City in the remaining three matches.

They will also be welcoming the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal in the last 10 matches as well. It is mainly the reason for Ian Wright to think that it will be tough for QPR to get even a point from the remaining matches.

“I think the players that have come in have not performed to the level that they should, simple as that. I think that they’ve got quality players but they’re just not playing well, none of them. When you get into a situation where you’re losing it’s hard to get out of it, and things like [Clint Hill’s disallowed goal at Bolton on Saturday] happen,” Ian Wright said in a fundraising event held by the Absolute Radio.

HUGHES WANTS MORE

QPR manager Mark Hughes has said that he is looking forward to much better performances in the future from former Chelsea winger Shaun Wright-Phillips.

The former Chelsea and Manchester City winger arrived from Manchester City in the summer for around £ 3 million. However, Neil Warnock has not been able to get the best out of the former England winger largely because of the position he was used.

Following the sacking of Neil Warnock, QPR appointed former Manchester City manager Mark Hughes. Mark Hughes has now said that QPR fans can now see the best of Shaun Wright-Phillips due to the fact that he will be played in his favourite position.

Shaun Wright-Phillips has failed to score in 22 appearances for QPR this season. Mark Hughes has said that one of his biggest tasks at QPR is to bring out the best in Shaun Wright-Phillips. At one point SWP was a certainty to make the England team (and the best Euro 2012 betting had him as odds-on to make the squad) but his performances since the turn of the year have seen him start to slip from grace.

In order to do that, Shaun Wright-Phillips will be used in his favourite position according to Mark Hughes. Mark Hughes is credited with bringing out the best in Shaun Wright-Phillips during his time at Manchester City. However, the current Manchester city manager Roberto Mancini has failed to recognise the talent behind Shaun Wright-Phillips.

“I think Shaun’s doing okay. In fairness I probably haven’t been able to play him in his most preferred position, which is wide right. I’ve moved him around, I’ve played him in the middle and I’ve predominantly started him on the left. He’s got enough ability to be able to adapt so I’ve been pleased with that,” said Hughes.

QPR are currently struggling in the bottom end of the table, despite bringing in a number of strong players during the January transfer window. They are currently in the 16th position in the table, with 21 points on the board.

SWP DEVASTATED BY GOAL

QPR winger Shaun Wright Phillips has said that he was left devastated by the way in which he was responsible for Arsenal’s late goal in the match between the two clubs.

QPR managed to restrict Arsenal from scoring in the match between the two clubs at Emirates Stadium recently but Robin van Persie scored the only goal to give Arsenal all three points lae in the game.

It’s only increased the pressure on QPR manager Neil Warnock, who has seen his side go without a win in the last seven matches. His future has become bleak at the Loftus Road.

QPR winger Shaun Wright Phillips, who was signed for just as little as £ 3 million in the summer from Manchester City, has said that he was solely responsible for the goal they conceded, which helped Van Persie overtake Thierry Henry’s record of 34 goals in one calendar year with Arsenal.

Wright Phillips conceded possession too cheaply, which was taken advantage by Arsenal winger Andre Arshavin. The Russian passed the ball to Robin van Persie, who slotted the ball past the advancing goalkeeper. Even though the Dutchman was unable to pass the record set by Alan Shearer back in 1995, the joy of having passed the record set by Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.

“Shaun Wright-Phillips is devastated, which is harsh of the lad as he had a great game, and could even have won it for us down at the other end. It was a terrible goal for to concede from our point of view, but that’s the fine line between winning and losing at Premier League level. But we came here positively with four forwards and tried to win the game,” QPR manager Neil Warnock said after the match.

According to the latest online Premier League betting, QPR still remain one of the favourites to avoid relegation, but they need to get more points on the board, sooner rather than later.

SWP SAYS QPR CAN WIN

Shaun Wright Phillips has turned the heat on Manchester United by saying that QPR can not only beat Chelsea at the Loftus Road, but they can also beat the Champions as well.

QPR performed exceptionally in their 1-0 win over Chelsea a few months back, but it could be eclipsed with a win over the current Champions. Manchester United head into the match against QPR not in the best of forms, although they have recently beaten Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-1. Still, Shaun Wright Phillips believes that Manchester United are not playing their best football of recent years and they can certainly be beaten at the Loftus Road.

It is very unlikely that Sir Alex Ferguson will be worried too much about the comments by Shaun Wright Phillips given that QPR have achieved only one victory at home all season. It is usually the prerogative for newly promoted teams to perform well at home, but QPR have been the exact opposite. They have been exceptional away from home, but they have struggled at the Loftus Road. The 1-0 win over Chelsea was their first win of the season and it still remains the same. Further, Manchester United will be coming into the match with the knowledge that they can go top of the table – albeit only for a few hours – since Manchester City do not play Arsenal until later on Sunday.

‘It’s a massive game to play in and we are looking forward to it and hopefully we can do the same thing we did to Chelsea and move further up the table again. I think we have done really well against the big clubs and I think we have got to keep doing that on a consistent basis,’ he told Sky Sports News. Heidar Helguson will be fit to face Manchester United.
